Agrisophia

This project addresses the shortage of school facilities in Kolda, Senegal, where demand far exceeds available places. Located in the greener southern part of the city, the AgriSophia school sits near a motorway and a river, supporting its focus on agricultural education and self-sufficiency.

The campus is enclosed by curved rammed-earth and green walls that also purify water and cool the air. It includes six classrooms for 156 students, integrated with recreational areas, small farming plots, and administrative spaces. The open layout, shaded by thatched roofs and vegetation, fosters interaction, exploration and easy supervision.

Local ecosystems are reinforced through careful planting, while phyto-purification systems provide clean water for farming and grey-water reuse. The architecture maximizes natural light and supports an agricultural program teaching students about food production, farming techniques and basic processing.
