Grimmeissen Square

This project aims to create new intergenerational housing within a historic context, transforming a site currently used as a parking lot. The design offers a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional wooden vernacular houses typical of the Alsace region.

The spatial organization follows a clear gradient from public to private: public functions are located on the south side facing a small public square, semi-public spaces occupy the central area, and private residential units are placed to the north to ensure privacy and tranquility.

On the ground floor, the nursery serves as a key connector within the complex, while workshops form a buffer between public streets and the nursery garden, providing a safe play area for children. Housing entrances are positioned on the east and west sides, and a shared green courtyard leads to a common room that encourages social interaction and community life among residents.
